Pressure Step does what no other weighing system can – accurately measure the weight of particulate solids, even in moving vessels.
Before Pressure Step, precisely weighing granulated material, like cement, sand, chemicals or calcite in ship
silos was nearly impossible. Although knowing the exact amount of material in a vessel is critical for offshore construction as well as internal accountability, the market alternatives offer drawbacks when utilized in offshore applications.
Pressure Step's system was designed specifically to overcome the impediments that render other weighing options inefficient in the harsh naval environment. It combines durable, specially designed sensors that are installed at the bottom of cargo silos with control software that uses an advanced algorithm to perform an unprecedented task - translate the pressure exerted by the material in the silos into mass. Therefore, material “settling”, vibrations, heave and roll of a vessel have no effect on Pressure Step's weighing accuracy.
Installation is quick and straightforward in new or existing vessels. Each sensor in the highly redundant system can be installed and removed separately, facilitating maintenance while ensuring weighing integrity.
In the control room, Pressure Step's software gives users a real-time view of the total mass of the material in each tank and displays trends, alarms and a historical register in full-color graphics.
